The Secret Lives of Objects
The Secret Lives of Objects by John McNulty, Queen’s University Belfast, SARC MA MUS7019, 2009. Scan ANY barcoded item and the animatronic toilet will tell a random story about it. Every story is unique, with content derived from Twitter, an electronic dictionary, and local lookup tables. Visitors to the installation are also barcoded with a sticker so that they become objects as well.

Pipeworks by Mark McKeague, SARC 3rd year portfolio, 2009. Interactive installation. Pipe valves control the relative prominence of ‘love’ and ‘hate’ in random tweets that are read aloud and printed on thermal paper.
